Besides holding Public Programs, Russian Sahaja Yogis use all the opportunities to take part in different expos and fairs. An essential attribute is a Sahaja Yoga stand: a poster with the scheme of the subtle body and the picture of Shri Mataji. All the willing people receive their Self-Realization, information leaflets about Sahaja Yoga and visit-cards with the addresses of Sahaja Yoga meetings for newcomers and telephone numbers of Sahaja Yogis.

Spreading Sahaja Yoga through Exhibitions in Russia

As an example of taking part in expos, the experience of Moscow SY collective is given below:

Since September 2008, Sahaja Yogis of Moscow have taken part in expos, exhibitions and festivals which proclaim healthy way of life, morality and spirituality. In a very decent way, without hustle, Sahaja Yogis tell the visitors about Shri Mataji, give Self-Realization to all the people who desire to know themselves. Honesty, sincerity and an unselfish desire to help, kindness, care and joy – this is the magnet which attracts visitors and participants of all the exhibitions to our stand.

Spreading sahaja Yoga through exhibitions in Russia

During nine months in 2008-2009 we took part in 19 exhibitions which took place at the most prestigious stages of Moscow and Russia. The central exhibition hall “Manezh”, “Gostinniy Dvor”, “Expocenter”, “Krokus-expo”, the exhibition hall of Moscow Government in Arbat street, the major pavilions of All-Russia Exhibition Center, sport-complex “Olympiyskiy”, central House of painters on Kuznetsk Bridge.

Numerous certificates, official information about Sahaja Yoga in catalogues and, which is the most important, gratitude and joy of those who learnt about Shri Mataji and received Self-Realisation – this is the result of our collective work in Moscow.

Spreading Sahaja Yoga through Expos in Russia

Besides, participation in exhibitions is not of the least importance for Sahaja Yogis themselves. We become closer and kinder to each other, meditate deeper, overcome fear, uncertainty and laziness.

At the Public Programs and during the participation in the exhibitions in Moscow, about 5000 people got their Self-Realisation in 2007, about 13 200 people – in 2008, and about 9200 people – from January till the middle of May 2009.

The Experience of Sahaja Yogis from Kolomna, Russia:

In summer 2005, at a Sahaja Festival, one of the Sahaja Yoginis from Moscow Region started a conversation about an idea of giving programs in Young Offender Institutions of Moscow Region.

For this, we had to get an affirmation from the Management of the Federal Service of Execution in Moscow Region. We also needed Sahaja Yogis to support this idea and to be ready to get together at the required time and hold a program in prisons and colonies. Sahaja Yogis from Kolomna (Moscow Region) enthusiastically agreed to take part in this initiative.

Several months later Sahaja Yogis received an affirmation for giving a chain of programs in the Young Offender Institutions of Moscow Region. During the period between November 19, 2005 and January 21, 2006, four programs were given in Mozhaysk and Kolomna male, female and teenage detention colonies. The programs were a great success and arouse sincere interest of some officers who worked in these colonies. These programs were also a great inspiration for Sahaja Yogis.

We saw that among the prisoners there are lots of seekers and good people. We saw their eyes, we felt the replies of their hearts. The main thing was that we constantly felt the great support of the Divine Power and attention of Mother was all the time with us. We received great joy and satisfaction from these programs”, says Vadim M. (Coordinator of Kolomna).

On this wave there were several more programs in Young Offender Institutions in other regions of Russia. When Sahaja Yogis from other regions heard about the positive experience of Moscow Region, they invited Kolomna bhajan-group to take part in the programs in their local prisons. In February 2006, the programs were held in the male colony in Tambov, in October 2006 – in the teenage colony of Alexin. On December 16-17, 2006 Ryzan Sahaja Yogis arranged three programs in different parts of the region. In June 2007, there was a program in Kostroma in the detention colony.

The positive experience of these programs proves once more that there are no obstacles for Love and leading to Truth, there are no obstacles for the warriors of the Light of Spirit armed with the Light of Truth.

Sahaja Yoga Public Programs in Russian Prisons

The Experience of Sahaja Yogis from Saint Petersburg, Russia:

There were programs in prisons of the North-Western Region which included an open talk about Sahaja Yoga and the full protocol of Self-Realisation. In the prison libraries, there were left guides on Sahaja Yoga and musical CDs. The prisoners looked bonded but in spite of this they sincerely did the protocol of Self-Realisation and didn’t feel shy to express their feelings.

Sahaja Yogis of Russia hold programs in orphanages and boarding schools. Such programs often have a form of a concert, performances (fairy tales) and games. Children take active part in the Programs and not just watch: they clap their hands, sing, play the musical instruments, put on saris and certainly – do the protocol of Self-Realisation. After the concerts, the children are often given presents. During the program and after it, the children are very joyful, feel the cool breeze and change for better.

We have very good relations with some orphanages and Sahaja Yogis come to them with concerts again and again. There is an interesting experience of establishing contacts with the administration of orphanages through the City Duma Deputies.

The newcomers are always surrounded with much love and care in all Russian city collectives. The Sahaja Yoga Course for Newcomers (Sahaja Yoga School) usually lasts for 2-3 months on average and includes 1 class per week as minimum.

The information below illustrates the experience of holding classes for newcomers in some Russian city collectives.

Naberezhnie Chelny

The course of Sahaja Yoga for new people in Naberezhnie Chelny usually consists of 6-7 classes. After it, the newcomers are invited to the main collective. Sahaja Yogis use common and widely spread Sahaja methods in their work with newcomers.

Class 1 – A short story about Sahaja Yoga and Shri Mataji. Self-Realisation protocol, meditation, work with new feelings and vibrations. Then the cleaning techniques with the element of Mother Earth and balancing of the channels are offered. The information about footsoaking is given at the end of the first class. The newcomers are advised to practice this kind of cleaning technique every day as a home task.

Class 2 – Homework checking. Information about Muladhara Chakra, the reasons why it catches and the qualities of this chakra. Statements for this chakra and airing (bandhan for the chakra). work with newcomers in Russia

In general, those who were brought by Sahaja Yogis and were impressed by them, those who receive constant care and support stay in the main collective after the classes are completed. On average, 10 percent of newcomers usually come to the main collective after Sahaja Yoga school.

Novosibirsk

Novosibirsk collective has two groups for newcomers. Usually Sahaja Yogis hold a general meeting with the newcomers and then follow classes for each chakra. Within each class there is time for talks with newcomers, answering their questions, cleaning with one of the methods (such as candle treatment, airing, burning knots, lemons, etc.) and watching the talks by Shri Mataji.

In Novosibirsk, eight Sahaja Yogis hold classes for newcomers in turn. Each class is held by two people. The classes are divided into cycles which means that there is a talk about a certain chakra at each of the classes. Of course, there is no tough structure of the classes for newcomers. Sahaja Yogis choose lectures and cleaning techniques depending on who of the newcomers and how often come.

work with newcomers in Sahaja Yoga

The structure of the classes is usually the following:

1. Sahaja Yogis talk to newcomers and ask them how they have learnt about Sahaja Yoga, how they meditate at home, etc.;
2. Self-Realisation protocol (if there are people who came for the first time);
3. Raising the Kundallini and making a Bandan;
4. Meditation;
5. Information about the subtle system;
6. Demonstration of a cleaning technique and making it together with the newcomers;
7. Listening to Shri Mataji’s talk;
8. Meditation;
9. Raising the Kundallini and making a Bandan.

At the end of the Course (after all the classes), if a person wishes to practice Sahaja Yoga, he or she receives the manual for beginners. The newcomers are invited to the collective meditations in the main city group. Sahaja Yogis try to give the newcomers their personal support until the newcomers establish themselves in the main collective.

work with newcomers in Sahaja Yoga

Voronezh

The classes for newcomers take place three times a week. The first day (Monday) is devoted to Self-Realisation, information about Sahaja Yoga and Shri Mataji (for those who come for the first time). The second class (on Wednesday) is devoted to a certain chakra (a different chakra per each week), the information about its aspects, qualities and methods of its balancing as well as teaching how to meditate. On the third day (Friday), there is a musical class. Singing mantras, music therapy when a group of Sahaja Yogis sings notes of the chakras and, sometimes, Bhajans and Ragas to the accompaniment of the Indian harmonium. Afterwards, the repetition of Self-Realisation Protocol and a meditation follow. Thus, the first-day class is for newcomers, the second day class is for those who have got their Self-Realisation already and the music therapy on the third day is for all. Usually about 10-15 people stay in the main collective after Sahaja Yoga school.

Music and Dance

Due to practicing Sahaja Yoga, many people found the willingness to create in themselves and they bring vibrations and love to other people through creativity, singing, music and dance. Many Russian Sahaja Yogis have studied the art of Indian classic music and dance in SY music academies in India and Togliatti, Russia. Many musical and dance groups have been created in Russia. It has given an opportunity to spread Sahaja Yoga through concerts of Indian music and dance.

Spreading Sahaja Yoga through Art

Spreading Sahaja Yoga through Art

The interest to Indian culture has always existed in Russia. The concerts of Indian classic music always attract people who consider Indian culture to be something close and interesting. At these concerts people learn more about the art and culture of India, about the subtle system, about Sahaja Yoga, receive their Self-Realisation, get an opportunity to meditate collectively listening to ragas and bhajans.

Spreading Sahaja Yoga through Art

All collectives give performances in beautiful Indian clothes. Bright colors of the costumes, beautiful jewelry on our sisters create festive atmosphere for all the spectators. The costumes and instruments are purchased collectively. Thus, all the Yogis can support this great work. A pure desire of creative Yogis to bring the message of Sahaja Yoga to people, a constant growth of their professional level is touching the hearts. People come to these programs with pleasure, the halls are often full. The audience doesn’t want to let the artists go, asks them to go on with the concert. The administration of the Cultural Establishments where the concerts usually take place says that they haven’t had so many visitors for a long time. The music calms people down, they listen to the information about Sahaja Yoga very attentively, almost all the guests of such concerts receive their Self-Realisation and feel the vibrations.

Fine Arts

Numerous Sahaja Yogis in Russia carry their love to people through fine arts, poetry, embroidery, ceramics, etc. There is an Art Union in Togliatti “Aarti” (a community of people of art – Sahaja Yogis). Since 1994, the exhibitions of the paintings of the artists from “Aarti” group have been held on a regular basis. By now, the painters have visited many cities of Russia together with their paintings. They have been to Moscow, Samara, Ulyanovsk, Dimitrovgrad, Kostroma, Tarus, Novokuibyshevsk, Zhigulevsk, and Sochi.

Sahaja Yoga and Art

Sahaja Yoga and Art

Of course, several exhibitions have taken place in Togliatti as well. This is a wonderful experience – giving Self-Realization through fine arts. It’s a very effective form of giving Self-Realisation to people. In many cases the arrival of artists and their works to any city is a real event for the small collectives of the local Sahaja Yogis. It’s also an opportunity to raise their activity by taking part in the arrangement of such programs and exhibitions. As a rule, the local Sahaja Yogis take all the organizational work on themselves: solve the questions of time and place, etc. So, the only thing left is usually to put the paintings on the walls and dive into the warmth and hospitality of our brothers and sisters.

Spreading Sahaja Yoga through painting

Spreading Sahaja Yoga through Art

There were cases when 300 or even more people came to the openings of the exhibitions. It has become a tradition already to invite music and dancing Sahaja Yoga groups for such presentations. The guests are told about the creativity of the painters and gradually they are given basic knowledge of Sahaja Yoga. People receive their Self-Realisation. And then the exhibition works. Usually the exposition takes 2-3 weeks, sometimes longer. Sahaja Yogis change each other on the duty in the Gallery/Museum. And the visitors, communicating to them, have a chance to get their Realisation. Thus, during the exhibition, tens and hundreds of people get their second birth.

Spreading Sahaja Yoga through Painting

Sahaja Yoga in Painting

Ragas, bhajans help us balance ourselves and put us in this or that state. In the same way, painters can bring a certain state to a spectator. An artist, as well as a musician, can share his vibrations, his state, his spiritual experience by means of fine arts which will open the hearts of the spectators. That is why the paintings express the subjects of Sahaja Yoga. This is life and creating their works of fine arts and graphics the painters-Sahaja Yogis do their best to share the experience of their spiritual outlook, to fill the paintings with innocence, light, spiritual qualities and state.

Russian Sahaja Yogis are doing research work in the field of the connection of Sahaja Yoga with such areas of science as medicine, biology, psychology, sociology and ecology. At the medical conferences, exhibitions and publications the results of the research illustrating the therapeutic effect of Sahaja Yoga on some physical and psychic disorder and illnesses are presented.

In Saint-Petersburg, Russia, scientific research in the field of Sahaja Yoga has been made by specialists-Sahaja Yogis of the International Interdisciplinary Creative Collective (IICC). The management of the papers is done by the Coordination Scientific and Technical Council using the best traditions of the world-known Roman Club. The IICC appeared thanks to the initiative of the workers of the Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg with the participation of Petrosky Academy of Science and Art and a number of medical institutions. The members of the IICC are scientists, doctors, teachers, social workers and others.

The task number one of the Valeology* Program of the IICC “Safety on Land and at Sea” is the search of the effective non-commercial technologies of the management of the safety of vital functions. When the Program was being fulfilled, the methods of the concept of the vibrational awareness introduced by Mrs. Nirmala Srivastava (Nirmala CVA) were used. This program is widely used now to increase the life safety of the specialists of the high-risk professions.

Medical technology of the System “Nirmala CVA” allows revealing the causes of the individual pathologies, forecasting unfavourable situations and possible complications and avoiding undesirable consequences. The basis of the energy and information Valeology Program includes consideration of the data of chrono-rhythms, forecasting express-examination and preventive correction on the eve of the “critical days” according to the methods of the System “Nirmala CVA”.

Fifteen articles on the use of the methods of “Nirmala CVA” in the field of public health and education were published during the 20 years of the work of the IICC. One of the members of the IICC has defended a dissertation in the field of “The Pedagogy of Life Safety”.

Since 1993, the methods of “Nirmala CVA” have been applied in different institutions in fields of gynecology and hemophilia. The successful many-years experience of the use of the concept of the vibrational awareness of Mrs. Nirmala Srivastava in extreme cases with the forecasted positive results in the field of overcoming severe illnesses allows to recommend these methods for the realization of without-stress study process at school.
