In Russia, the children of Sahaja Yogis have an opportunity to meet once a week at Sahaja meetings. There are such children’s groups almost in every big city of Russia. Adult Sahaja Yogis or Yuva Shakti conduct these meetings. The Yogis from different cities who are responsible for children’s meetings try to work together sharing experience and ideas.

Children’s programs allow maintaining good vibrational state of the children and developing  a habit in themto meditate in the collective. It is obvious that a child comprehends the truth better in the collective of children of the same age. The programs for children have some peculiarities:

1. The duration of the children’s programs should not exceed 30-40 minutes.
2. The programs should be dynamic to keep the children’s attention at the main things.
3. The dynamism of the program can be reached by changing activities.

To create a meditative state we suggest the children to prepare the Altar for the program (it takes 5 minutes).

Then we revise the structure of the subtle system with the help of the scheme together with the children (3-5 minutes). Thus, the little ones are tuned for the inner work with themselves. During the meditation, music helps maintain a meditative state. The children sing notes for the chakras, mantas and bhajans to the accompaniment of the Indian harmonium (8-10 minutes).

When there is time for meditation itself, it is good to listen to the tape of a vocal or instrumental raga (5-8 minutes).

After the meditation we give some information about one of the chakras (7 minutes). At the end of the meeting the children sing Aarti and Three Great Mantras (3-5 minutes).

4. Children copy adults who bring them up. That is why only a united collective of teachers and parents will provide a strong Yuva Shakti collective in the future (which will consist of our children).

The basic aspects which have been formed when working with children at the meetings are the following:

1. To give children the knowledge of who Shri Mataji is;
2. To bring up collectivity and ability to live in the collective in children;
3. To give children the knowledge about the chakras;
4. To give children the knowledge of Sahaja Yoga cleaning techniques (through collective cleanings);
5. To develop the skill to feel the vibrations, to distinguish them in children (through showing the children how vibrations can work on the collective level);
6. To give children the understanding that Sahaja Yoga works for the whole world and that is why it is necessary to work at the problems which they see around.

Since 1994, the annual Sahaja Yoga Camp for children of Sahaja Yogis has been organized in a picturesque place among nature near Togliatti. In 2004, it obtained the All-Russian status. In 2004, the number of children visitn gthe Camp was 30. The number was growing annually. Last year there were 100 children in the children’s Sahaja Yoga Camp. The camp has only one session which lasts 15-20 days and takes place in July every year. The children are of the age of 9 to 14. In the first years, there were also children of 5.

The aim of the camp is the children’s collective spiritual growth, their upbringing in the manner of Sahaja Yoga culture. The program of the Camp is comprehensive: all traditional Sahaja events (pujas, havans, everyday cleanings), art lessons, health-improving arrangements (sport games, etc.), merry spare time. The camp “Dot of Light” is traditionally organized among nature, near the river in the forest (earlier – the territory of a tourist centre, last year – the venue of the International SY Festival).
